"do I need the Intel Driver Support Assistant installed at all?" That is actually up to you, many customers prefer to update the drivers manually others prefer to use the tool, but as long as you keep checking the website from the OEM for updates on drivers that are done normally every few months you can always uninstall the Intel® Driver Support Assistant and keep updating the drivers manually. The Intel® drivers are generic, meaning they might or might not work with your specific platform. ![]() In reference to this scenario, you mentioned "It also prompts me that if I have an OEM driver installed (like from Dell), then to use that instead", that is correct, we always recommend to install the drivers provided by the manufacturer of the computer, since that driver was customized by them to work with your specific platform, that should be the proper driver for your system. Gregbrikitis, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.

Or is it maybe my nvidia 2080Ti that need some tweaks, somewhere else? I have installed Warpips on a NTFS Partition (Samsung 860 Pro 1TB) SSD, that i normaly use for gaming under Windows, i created there a new Steam Library (just for Linux)… could be there a problem related to NTFS and Proton gaming? I have activated Steam Play, i had choosed under Game properties between Proton Experimental/Proton 7.0 and Proton 6.3 but no success, i clicked on play, the Steambutton changed to starting/running for 5sec but nothing comes up, no loading screen or anything, only my HD LED doing some work but nothing really happening. I have no idea, why this game won’t load, ProtonDB showed me Platinum for Warpips. Its my first time that i try to run a non-Native Linux game under Manjaro KDE and what can i say… nothing is working |
